A Couple Of Repair Tools If You Are Running Windows Besides Linux

If you are running windows xp, vista, 7, 8 or 8.1 this tool can save you a lot of headaches. The tool I am talking about is a repair tool from tweaking.com and is free. I recommend this to anyone who is a computer technician or if you are trying to repair your own system. I have used it a number of times and it has saved the time of performing an in place upgrade or repair mask on an older windows xp system. You can find this tool at this website link http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html . Basically all you have to do is either perform a clean boot on the system and then run the tool. You will see on the website how to perform a clean boot on various operating systems. I generally set the system I am cleaning viruses on to run in the safe mode with networking. This basically does the same as a clean boot and I have not had any problems. It is a very useful tool unfortunately it does not work for any Linux or mac operating systems.

Basic Picture Of RogueKiller
Another useful tool I have found and used lately is called Rogue Killer. It can be seen in the picture above. I would go to their website and read any tutorials on the program. It is very easy to run and I would suggest the safe mode. It can be found at this website link http://www.adlice.com/softwares/roguekiller/ . It again is another free anti malware program that can clean up some nasty infections. I have used this program on a number of occasions to remove and rid a system of the poweliks virus that has been going around. Here is a list of items it performs below from the authors website.

  1. Here’s a little summary of what RogueKiller is able to do:
  2. Kill malicious processes
  3. Stop malicious services
  4. Unload malicious DLLs from processes
  5. Find/Kill malicious hidden processes
  6. Find and remove malicious autostart entries, including :
  7. Registry keys (RUN/RUNONCE, …)
  8. Tasks Scheduler (1.0/2.0)
  9. Startup folders
  10. Find and remove registry hijacks, including :
  11. Shell / Load entries
  12. Extension association hijacks
  13. DLL hijacks
  14. Many, many others …
  15. Read / Fix DNS Hijacks (DNS Fix button)
  16. Read / Fix Proxy Hijacks (Proxy Fix button)
  17. Read / Fix Hosts Hijacks (Hosts Fix button)
  18. Restore shortcuts / files hidden by rogues of type “Fake HDD“
  19. Read / Fix malicious Master Boot Record (MBR), even hidden behind rootkit
  20. List / Fix SSDT – Shadow SSDT – IRP Hooks (Even with inline hooks)
  21. Find and restore system files patched / faked by a rootkit
As I would recommend to anyone if your computer is badly infected you would be better to take it to a professional service company that cleans viruses as well as other service related functions. Never try to tackle a serious situation by yourself, because you could lose all your data. Always have a back up of your system to an external back up hard drive or to the cloud with a program such as carbonite.
Remember Christmas is coming soon so get your Virus Software and keep it up to date.
Thank You for reading and stay safe.
